Don’t just take our word for it, these are two reviews left by previous attendees…

As soon as I walked into the room I was warmly greeted by the host, got myself a coffee, and was invited to chat straight away.  Everyone was very friendly and the host looked after everyone very well.  Well worth a visit and if you go on your own, you won’t be there on your own as everyone talks to you.  Thank you for a lovely experience – Plym Lets

Moor Trees

Moor Trees exists to grow and plant native broadleaf woodland on Dartmoor in response to the climate and nature crisis. Since 2000, our charity (number 1081142) has planted over 155,000 trees. Moor Trees is unique as we collect seed of native broadleaf tree species from local sites, stratify, nurture, and grow them from one to four years (dependant on tree species) in our two community tree nurseries, before the young whips are planted by our volunteers in their thousands each winter to restore Dartmoor’s lost temperate rainforest.

Your business can join us on this journey, to combat the climate and nature crisis on your Dartmoor doorstep.

Harnessing the Power of Everyday Changes to Transform Our Brains

In an age where science continually unveils the mysteries of the human brain, a fascinating revelation emerges: everyday changes to our lives can profoundly alter the way our brains function. The growing body of evidence suggests that the brain, that intricate and adaptable organ, responds dynamically to our choices and habits.

Consider this: simple adjustments to our daily routines, from diet and exercise to sleep patterns and mindfulness practices, can stimulate neuroplasticity—the brain’s remarkable ability to rewire and adapt. These changes need not be monumental; it’s the consistency that counts.

Exercise, for instance, has been shown to boost cognitive function, reduce stress, and even increase the volume of certain brain regions. Engaging in activities like walking, yoga, or meditation can enhance connectivity between brain cells and promote mental clarity.

Dietary choices also play a pivotal role. Consuming brain-boosting foods rich in antioxidants, omega-3 fatty acids, and vitamins nourishes the brain, fostering optimal cognitive performance. Small changes like incorporating more leafy greens, nuts, and fatty fish into your diet can make a significant difference.

Sleep, the body’s natural restoration mechanism, directly influences brain health. Prioritizing a consistent sleep schedule and creating a sleep-conducive environment can sharpen memory, enhance creativity, and bolster emotional resilience.

Moreover, practices like mindfulness meditation sculpt the brain’s structure and function over time, strengthening areas associated with emotional regulation and stress management. Even the simple act of learning a new skill or language stimulates neuroplasticity, expanding your cognitive horizons.

In this era of rapid change and information overload, it’s reassuring to know that we possess the power to mold our own neurological destinies. Everyday changes, however small, have the potential to rewire our brains and transform our lives. It’s a testament to the incredible adaptability and resilience of the human brain, inviting us to embrace a future where our choices foster cognitive vitality and well-being. So, let’s embark on this journey of self-improvement, armed with the knowledge that our brains are ever-ready to evolve alongside us.

Business Tips, Networking

Five suggestions for what you can do when attending your first business networking event

Here are five suggestions for what you can do when attending your first business networking event:

  1. Set Clear Goals: Determine what you hope to achieve from the networking event. It could be making a specific number of meaningful connections, learning about industry trends, or seeking potential collaboration opportunities. Having clear goals will help you stay focused and make the most of your time at the event.
  2. Be Prepared with Business Cards: Carry an ample supply of business cards to exchange with other attendees. Your business card should include essential contact information and a brief description of what you do. Hand out your cards strategically to individuals you have engaging conversations with and want to stay connected with.
  3. Engage in Active Listening: Networking is not just about talking about yourself and your business. Actively listen to others and show genuine interest in their work. Ask open-ended questions to learn more about their experiences and challenges. Listening attentively will help you establish rapport and build meaningful connections.
  4. Introduce Yourself with Confidence: Prepare a concise and compelling introduction about yourself and your business. Clearly communicate your value proposition and what sets you apart. Practice delivering your introduction in a confident and engaging manner to make a positive impression on others.
  5. Follow Up After the Event: Networking doesn’t end when the event concludes. Take the initiative to follow up with the contacts you made within a few days. Send personalized emails or connect on professional networking platforms like LinkedIn. Reference something specific from your conversation to jog their memory and express your interest in staying connected.

Remember, networking is an ongoing process, and your first event is just the beginning. The more you attend and actively engage in networking events, the more comfortable and effective you’ll become at building relationships and expanding your professional network.
