Queue for the Queen

Our 10-minute talk this week was given by Alistair from Gleave Media about his very recent London trip when he queued for The Queen following the death of our Monarch.  We haven’t copied this word for word but a very brief synopsis is below.

We started at 2am in Southwark Park in a never-ending snake of up and down, the route following through Bermondsey, Shad Thames to Tower Bridge then essentially down the Queen Walk (by the side of the Thames) all the way to Lambeth Bridge where we crossed over the river and joined Victoria Tower Gardens.

And you can see a short video of the snake in Victoria Tower Gardens that seemed to go on forever.

It’s definitely worth mentioning all the stewards and police who were on the route at various stages were wonderful, lots of good mornings and encouragement to keep going for what is essentially 30 seconds paying your respects at the coffin of our Monarch, and after 12hrs and 15 minutes we were there in what was a very emotional and incredibly worthwhile journey.

Thanks for reading and I hope to see you at a future event.
